The ice breaker used for a topic in Mathematics (time telling) is to write out their day on Saturday and look for someone in the class that have the same activities with them. It was a beautiful sight.
Icebreaker used for a topic in Grammar (verbs). Using a ballot system, students picked rolled pieces of paper from a bowl and act out what is written on it. Others try to guess what the person is doing.
The Ice breakers got the pupils pumped up and excited for the day’s class
The icebreaker used was the coloured paper games. These for the pupils excited when we were having our revision lessons. The pupils really had fun and at the same time learnt greatly.
Icebreaker
The students were divided into 5 random groups. Each group was given a fact sheet of a topic they had previously learned.
They were also shown pieces of information from the fact list arranged in a haphazard way and given 1 minute to look at the arrangement and remember the positions of the pieces that match from the fact list. The papers were turned upside down and each member of the team had 15 seconds to turn 2 papers up that had matching information e.g. if a paper that had oxygen was turned up, the person had to turn another piece of paper that had a property of oxygen up to win the game.
The group with the most correct answers in 5 tries won the game.
The students were very excited and they relied in themselves to turn the correct answers up.
I used a flash cards with words that make up sentences on them the pupils are asked to arrange them in their order and note the subject and the predicate.
The use of flash cards to denote direct and indirect Speech. It’s a game where the students are shared into group of 4. Es h group is to pick a flash card containing a direct speech and math with a corresponding indirect Speech.
It was fun and impactful.
Icebreakers help to create a relaxed environment where students share ideas and participate more fully in the class. It helps to build rapport among students and foster a productive learning environment.
They can also be designed to allow students to become acquainted with course content and expectations.
EXAMPLE
Show and Tell.
Instruct students to bring in something that they cherish, or just want to share with the class. Give each student a turn to come up and tell about the item that they brought in. This way the class will get to know each other and something that makes each student happy.
I used flash cards that easy written three letter words and l asked the pupils to arrange sequencely and say the word.
I used the icebreaker on verbs…though we called it “the verb game”. Someone does something imaginary and the first person to guess what the person is doing gets a point.
My kids sure love “the verb game” as we call it…lol
I used the icebreaker during a lesson on verbs…though we called it “the verb game” abd it goes this way: Someone does something imaginary and the first person to guess what the person is doing gets a point.
My kids sure love “the verb game” as we call it…lol
Ice breaker makes both the tracher& learners lively and ready to learn for the day.
Icebreakers as starters are the perfect tonic for any given lesson.
I used the ice breaker in my Nursery class where we all have to recite a rhyme Mr Sun with the drawing of Sun looking real.
Ice breaker made the teacher and the learners to bond together for more activities to come.
